Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 16, 2026. This Privacy Policy explains how Miru collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use the app.

Information We Collect

  • Account information, such as email address, encrypted password credentials, confirmation status, account settings, and authentication records.
  • Photos and image metadata, including uploaded JPEG, PNG, or WebP files, filenames, file size, content type, EXIF metadata where available, camera settings, dates, and other embedded image details.
  • Analysis and comparison content, including AI-generated evaluations, ratings, hotspots, notes, reactions, saved observations, comparison results, and public share settings.
  • Usage and diagnostic information, such as timestamps, feature usage, AI provider records, model usage, request costs, logs, device/browser data, IP address, and security events.
  • Communications you send to us, including support requests, feedback, and administrative messages.

How We Use Information

  • To create and manage accounts, authenticate users, and provide the Miru service.
  • To store uploaded photos, extract image metadata, generate analysis, compare photos, save notes, and display results.
  • To enable user-controlled public sharing links and revoke those links when requested through the app.
  • To monitor performance, debug issues, secure the service, prevent abuse, enforce terms, and measure AI provider costs.
  • To communicate about account activity, service updates, support, security, and policy changes.
  • To improve Miru's product experience, reliability, and user workflows.

AI Providers and Service Providers

Miru may send uploaded photos, image metadata, prompts, notes, and related context to third-party AI providers, cloud infrastructure providers, storage providers, email providers, error monitoring tools, analytics tools, payment processors, and support tools as needed to provide and operate the service. These providers may process information on Miru's behalf under their own terms, policies, and data processing commitments.

Miru's current application code supports OpenAI and Azure OpenAI providers for AI analysis and comparison workflows. Provider availability may change over time. Before uploading sensitive, confidential, client, or third-party material, confirm that you have permission to process it through the service and its providers.

No Sale of Your Photos

We do not sell your uploaded photos. Miru is intended to process your content to provide photography analysis, comparison, note-taking, sharing, support, security, and service improvement. If Miru later introduces analytics, advertising, marketplace, training, or partner uses that materially change this policy, this Privacy Policy should be updated before those uses begin.

Model Training

Miru's public app copy says your data is not used to train models. This policy should remain true in production: do not use user photos, prompts, analysis, notes, or account data to train AI models unless users have been clearly informed and have given any legally required consent. Third-party AI providers may have their own data handling settings and commitments, so production configuration should be verified before launch.

Public Sharing and Visibility

Uploaded photos, analysis, comparisons, and notes are private by default unless the app provides a sharing feature and you choose to create a public share link. Anyone with a valid share link may be able to view the shared content. If you revoke a share link, future access through that link should stop, but Miru cannot control copies, downloads, screenshots, caches, or onward sharing by people who already had access.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Miru may use cookies, session storage, CSRF tokens, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, secure forms, remember account state, detect abuse, and operate the app. If analytics, advertising, or tracking tools are added, this section should be updated to identify them and describe user choices.

Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably needed to provide Miru, maintain accounts, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent abuse, and keep backups. If you delete content or close an account, active copies should be removed or de-identified within a reasonable period, though backup, log, legal, or security copies may persist for a limited time.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for using a strong password, protecting your account credentials, and reviewing photos for sensitive information before uploading or sharing them.

Your Choices and Rights

  • You can access and update certain account information through the app.
  • You can delete photos, revoke public sharing links, and manage saved notes where the app provides those controls.
  • You can request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or objection where required by applicable law.
  • You can opt out of certain emails where an unsubscribe or preference mechanism is provided, though service and security messages may still be sent.

Children

Miru is not intended for children under 13. Do not use Miru if you are under 13. If we learn that we collected personal information from a child under 13 without required consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete it. If Miru targets or knowingly serves younger users in the future, this policy and the product flow should be updated first.

International Users

Miru may process and store information in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate. Privacy laws in those places may differ from the laws where you live. If Miru actively serves users in jurisdictions with specific privacy requirements, such as the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Canada, or California, additional disclosures and rights processes may be required.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, such as by updating the effective date, posting notice in the service, or sending an email. Continued use of Miru after the updated policy becomes effective means the updated policy applies.
